PULLEY RIDGE
MAY 2016
The Expedition
In May of 2016 our research ship Plan b pulled out of West Palm Beach, FL and headed south toward Dry Tortugas in the Florida Keys with the goal of documenting the fauna and flora in the region in order to support recommendations for protections. We carried a diverse team including both imaging specialists and biology scientists. Sandra Brooke of Florida State University and John Reed of Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution comprised the science team. Luis Lamar of Woods Hole’s AIVL lab and Brian Skerry, National Geographic Photographer were also on board to capture imagery. We worked for just over a week using our Remote Operating Vehicle to ferry the cameras to the depths.
