MARINE CONSERVATION AND
MARITIME SECURITY SUMMIT
2019
February 27-28
San Diego, CA | USA
As a follow-on to the 2018 Our Ocean Conference in Bali, Indonesia the Waitt Foundation and the National Maritime Intelligence-Integration Office (NMIO) are partnering on a Summit focused on the implementation of a sustainable, long-term partnership between the maritime conservation and maritime security communities. This unique Summit will bring together members of the partnership, the Marine Conservation and Maritime Security Coalition, to identify the specific maritime information challenges facing selected partner nations and their marine protected areas, and design measurable solutions to address these problems.
This Summit is designed to bring together and
leverage the collective insights and wisdom from
the maritime conservation and maritime security
communities, along with other stakeholders from
the global maritime community of interest. The
Summit will focus on the maritime information
challenges facing selected partner nations and
their marine protected areas, and design
measurable solutions to address these problems
through a mix of plenary presentations, table-top
exercises, and human centered design break-out
session exercises. It will conclude with a
one-day meeting of project partners to explore
next steps in the partnership, focusing on pilot
project implementation
