The first two weeks of June, 2015, the Waitt Foundation supported an expedition to collect and provide baseline survey information to the government of Albania in the hopes of advancing the creation of Marine Protected Areas. Professor Sajmir Beqiraj, of the University of Tirane, is the Primary Investigator of this effort and he has enlisted the assistance of Dr. Enrique Ballesteros of the Centre d’Estudis Avançats de Blanes and his team in order to conduct dive surveys along the Albanian coast. At the end of the expedition we showed our initial results at the University of Vlorës in a presentation to local stakeholders
