WHY PROTECT 30%?

Balancing Economy & Environment

Experts agree that 30% of the ocean must be strongly protected in no-take Marine Protected Areas to maximize fisheries yield and safeguard marine resources.

Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) are a place in the ocean where human activities are limited. The most effective MPAs prohibit all extractive use (fishing, mining, etc.).
