THE WAITT FAMILY FOUNDATION TO CELBRATE 10th ANNIVERSARY

Sioux City, IA - Spetember 24, 2003 - The Orpheum Theatre Preservation Project and Boys and Girls Home and Family Services will host a public reception Thursday marking the 10th anniversary of the Waitt Family Foundation.

The reception will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the Orpheum Theatre lobby; Jim Wharton will give a brief presentation at 5:45 p.m.

The Waitt Family Foundation was established in September 1993 by Ted and Joan Waitt. Major areas of funding include children and child care, violence prevention, educational scholarships and community enhancement. Cindy Waitt is director of the Foundation's Siouxland office.

During the last four years, scholarships totaling $1.7 million have been awarded to 243 high school seniors and single parents. Over the years, social service organizations and the Siouxland community have received millions of dollars in grants and donations, including $2 million for the renovation of the Orpheum Theatre.

" The Waitt Family Foundation has been so very generous in the Siouxland community, recognizing the various needs and responding with the financial support in an effort to make Siouxland a better place," stated Robert P. Sheehan, president and CEO of the Boys and Girls Home and Family Services Inc.

" We are delighted to join with the rest of the community in recognizing and thanking the Foundation and the Waitt family members for their incredible work and accomplishments," Sheehan said.
